LO1: InDesign Introduction

What I like about this cover:
1) I like the fact that it is mainly monochrome, but with only one bit of colour. This draws your attention to the middle of the page.
2) The title is in different parts, I like this because it is bold and different yet easy to read.
3) The sub-headings are titled at an angle to fit the picture. I like this because it is ver aesthetically pleasing.

Key Terms:

- Desktop Publishing Programme -

- Dialogue Box - A box that gives you options and functions relating to a programme.

- Gutter - The space in-between the columns.

- White Space - Empty space with no images or text.

Contents Page Conventions:

- Title (Contents)
- Masthead is always next to the title. This reinforces the brand of the magazine.

- Sub-headings e.g. Features - the main stories in the magazine. The reason sub-headings are big is so that you can go to the articles you want to read.

- Cover Story - the story relating to the front cover

- News

- Fashion

- Page numbers - so the readers are able to turn to the right articles in the magazine. Page numbers always go in ascending order. They are always in the bottom left hand corner.

- Images. These images are associated with the title. There will always be images that are anchored with text.

- Editors Section - e.g. Editor names, content publishers, photographers.
This is a box of text written by the editor showing what's in this magazine. It will have a signature at the bottom to make the magazine feel personal to the reader, it has the stamp of approval.

- Colours - They will match the 'house style' of the magazine. Only using two colours reinforces the genre, brand and house style.

- Columns. They're used to separate the text and the sub-headings. They are mostly the same width.

The importance of setting these settings is that I can set my page to be the specific size of an industry magazine, set how many columns I'd like in my page and decide on the width of my margins.

To change the colour of the box, I selected the box and used the colour tool to change the colour. TO change the outline of the text, I highlighted the text and selected the colour I wanted.

This is the rectangle frame tool. This is used to add documents to the page.
